January Nature Blog
Tree Planting and Habitat Creation.
Well to start off all I can say is what a mild January we have had and a big thankyou to The Woodland Trust for the donation of a community tree pack what fine specimens they are.
We are inviting local schools to visit our site on Thursdays from now until the end of March. If we havent contacted you and your interested first may I apologise and second please get in touch and we arrange for you to come down.
We have been putting in about 2000 trees altogether this winter and what a job it is. As we are an old landfill covered in waste sludges most of the digging isnt to bad but get on the banking that isnt covered in sludge and the digging is hard going!!!
We have started work on some new habitats, we have got to the planning stage and are now ready for the manual stuff (that is after the tree planting is finished.)
We now have an account on www.Ispot.org.uk as theableproject we will be adding photos from our site and getting help with any identification problems we may have.
All in all its been a productive January, but it could be better if we had more bodies to help nudge nudge wink wink, so if you fancy having a go at being a conservation volunteer then check the volunteering section of the website.
