Information for Teachers
ABLE offers a unique and engaging programme of activities for school children. We also offer accreditation in practical skills and curriculum relevant subjects.
School groups are welcome to visit ABLE for a half or full day session. Activities are tailored to the needs of the class.
All visits include a full tour of the site and then focus in on specific curriculum areas or self-confidence oriented activities for the rest of the time available. Popular subject themes include: food and farming, natural resources, life cycles and growth, sustainability, waste and recycling and biodiversity. A maximum of 15 people per group is essential to ensure we do not breach our health and safety limit.
Half day and full day programmes are available.
As a general guide a one-off full day visit for a full class will cost around £200.00 with half-days around £100.00. Prices for small group accreditation programmes will reflect the needs of the group and the staffing levels involved please contact laura@theableproject.org.uk for further information.

Risk and Behaviour Management at ABLE
All ABLE's educational activities are regularly risk assessed. Our risk assessments are available to groups on request but we do encourage schools and organisations visiting ABLE to make their own risk assessments based on the needs of their group.
All our risk assessments are regularly updated (6 monthly minimum) and our staff are trained to assess risk on a daily basis according to changing conditions or circumstance.
ABLE operates a strict and clear behavioural agreement with all groups attending the site. While this will be adapted to particular group needs, the basic procedure will rely on a no tolerance policy for violence towards others in the group, staff or property.
For more information on risk assessments and for all other outdoor learning enquiries, please contact Laura on 01924 339994 or email us.
