Summer School Success

This season, ABLE's summer school as been a resounding success, with young people and adults attending a variety of activity days each week.

Young people and adults have been attending a variety of activity days each week this summer. They have learned new skills and practiced others connected to the farm, the environment and being creative.

A typical day started with breakfast before embarking on a variety of indoor and outdoor activities.

The teams have been gardening and exploring the site on the nature trail, learning about the bugs and beasts they find on their journeys. They are also building and erecting a number of scarecrows and completing cycling courses on the site: Some of the more advanced riders are even enjoying the thrills and spills of the pump track! A favourite with all of the young people is the fish farm where they learn all about caring for fish including how to feed them properly.

When the typical English rainy summer weather sets in, the action is moved indoors to more creative activites such as making musical instruments and craft work.

After all this exertion, the team are more than willing to knuckle down and prepare a hearty lunch for themselves with a little help and encouragment from the team leaders.
